Artwork description
In his series Amazons, Bruno Fournier explores the most uninhibited and intimate aspects of movement, depicting naked women adorned with unexpected accessories. Hubcaps, hairdryers, ropes, loudspeakers, car doors, masks, balls... By cleverly re-employing these objects, he elevates the women's bodies to symbols of freedom.
Photographed in black and white, Bruno Fournier's nudes evoke three themes which are dear to the photographer: humans' animality, violence and eroticism. In conflict with all that is coercive in today's world, these women assert themselves as female warriors, armed with these shields to claim their freedom to run, jump, shout!
By externalizing the inner force which resides in each woman, Bruno Fournier pays homage to indomitable, feminine power.
All the photos are printed from a black&white negative, in a darkroom by hand on fiber paper Ilford, without any retouch. Shipping Details Photo will be shipped unframed and in a tube.
* It is recommended that you take the tube and art print to a professional framer who will un-package and handle with museum gloves. If you choose to open the package yourself, handle the print by its white borders only.
