This is a unique Cyanotype Print showing a dark haired woman.

The technique of cyanotype printing belongs to the handprinting methods though it is more a photographic technique invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842. Paper is mad light sensitive with a mixture of chemicals, brushed onto it in half darkness and then set to dry in darkness. In the meantime the artist creates a negative by inverting a digital photo and printing that in original image size on transparent plastic. This negative is placed on top of the dry, light sensitive paper and exposed to the sun. Dependent on the weather exposure time is something from 3-30 minutes. The unexposed chemicals can be washed out in clear water and the image might be tones to some kind of sepia with a 10 minute bath in green tea.
